Trustwell Achieves GDST Capability Certification, Advancing Interoperability and Seafood Traceability

Trustwell, a leading provider of traceability and compliance solutions for the food industry, today announced that its FoodLogiQ platform has successfully passed the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) Capability Test. This certification recognizes Trustwell as a verified “GDST-Capable Solution,” affirming its ability to securely exchange standardized traceability data across the seafood supply chain.

“This milestone elevates Trustwell’s role in the global traceability ecosystem. As a GDST partner since 2024, we have championed the need for data standards that strengthen food safety and transparency. Certification reinforces our commitment to advancing a more connected, resilient, and secure seafood supply chain for our customers, their partners and the industry.”

Katy Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Trustwell

The GDST Capability Test evaluates a software provider’s ability to send and receive GDST-compliant traceability data, including key data elements (KDEs) and critical tracking events (CTEs), using JSON and GS1 Digital Link standards. Certification confirms that Trustwell’s platform enables interoperability between trading partners using different systems, reducing complexity and improving efficiency throughout the supply chain.

Kevin Edwards, Vice President of Global Market Development at GDST said “The GDST are working with industry to promote trust in fishery and aquaculture supply chains. We support organizations in adopting our common-language Standard and we work with solution-providers such as Trustwell, who share our vision for digital interoperable traceability – enabling data to pass seamlessly along the full length of the supply chain.”

“We are delighted that Trustwell’s FoodLogiQ platform is now GDST-Capable. With a growing number of consumers demanding safe, ethical, sustainable products, GDST-Capable platforms empower the seafood sector to effectively demonstrate full traceability – from fish to fork – providing a critical edge in building trust with consumers and delivering compliance with legislation.”

Trustwell’s certification follows its early participation as a GDST Partner Solution and now positions the company among a growing network of technology providers implementing the GDST 1.2 Standard at scale. By achieving verified status, Trustwell enables its customers to:

  • Seamlessly share traceability data with other GDST-Capable systems
  • Improve coordination across multi-ingredient and global seafood supply chains
  • Reduce manual processes and integration challenges
  • Strengthen their position with trading partners, retailers, and regulators

“Becoming a GDST-Capable Solution underscores our product vision to support fully integrated, end-to-end traceability,” said Todd Dolinsky, Chief Product Officer at Trustwell. “As seafood companies move toward digital transformation, this certification demonstrates our readiness to support them through scalable, standards-based integration with other certified solutions.”

This achievement also reflects Trustwell’s deep commitment to making the full food supply chain safer, more transparent and more collaborative. As the industry continues to evolve, Trustwell remains focused on helping customers build resilient and future-ready traceability programs.

The Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) is an international, business-to-business platform dedicated to creating global standards and guidelines for interoperable seafood traceability – enabling systems across the supply chain to communicate and exchange data seamlessly. Founded in 2017 by WWF and IFT, GDST became a partnership Foundation in 2022, guided by a Steering Committee comprising industry leaders that operates under the oversight of the Secretariat, which facilitates collaboration and implementation of its objectives.

GDST’s primary goal is to establish a common framework for seafood traceability that enables seamless data exchange across the supply chain. Its standards, including the Critical Tracking Events (CTEs) and Key Data Elements (KDEs), ensure that traceability systems are interoperable, addressing industry-wide challenges like combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and improving sustainability practices.

The GDST has 107 Partners, including major seafood processors, retailers, software companies, NGOs and global brands. Notable partners include Marine Stewardship Council, Wholefoods, Mars Inc, Metro, Thai Union, and WWF. GDST also works closely with international organizations like the FAO to align its standards with global fisheries management and policy frameworks.
